One of the first things that comes to mind when I hear the word "write" is the Scripture passage quoted above. As I was seeking direction in my life, I was reading in Deuteronomy and came across these verses. The two words that seemed to leap off the page were TEACH and WRITE. What are we to teach and write? The commandments of God.
God desired that His children would know what He had said to them and He wanted His words preserved and passed down from generation to generation. To ensure that this would happen, He commanded His people to teach them all. the. time! wherever they were AND to write them in places where they would be seen . . . every . . . day!
What legacy do you desire to pass on through your writing?
Love your closing question - so good to think of writing as passing on a legacy! I love that perspective! Thank you for sharing!
ReplyDeleteHi Ashley, thanks for stopping by and for your encouraging words!
ReplyDeleteI never really thought of passing on a legacy through my writing. If I look at it that way it makes it even a little more scary.

ReplyDeleteHi Amy,
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by. Didn't mean to scare you!
I think of writing as a legacy because of my grandmother. She kept a diary from the time she was a teen until she had a stroke and could no longer write. She was my inspiration to journal and the diaries I possess that were her's are one of my most treasured possessions. I guess down deep I want to pass on that legacy, to inspire others to keep a record of their life.
Your life, your words are too valuable not to be shared with others.
